Polyptych (2023)
c. 15 minutes
solo performer, synthesizers, electronics, projection
Apprehending the synth through the lens of acquisition and control, Polyptych aims to augment the dynamics of disenfranchisement and apathy that pervade interactions with electronic devices.
Bound within a visual composition, the performer and anthropomorphized synths of Polyptych are forced into a subversion of their traditional roles. Audio transduced into the chasses of the synths render them as living acoustic objects, whilst the microphones worn by the performer - and resultant feedback loops - make them responsive to the autonomous loops and signals of the synths.
Polyptych contains two movements, JUNO-60 and Behringer-RD9, which can also be presented as standalone musical works.
Polyptych was premiered at minu_festival_for_expanded_music, 2023.
