W'h'ood Thunk Kit

Conceived as a choreographed dance for performer and piano, this work focuses on a pianist's interaction with the material of the instrument, bringing forward micro or incidental sounds through amplification of the piano’s keyboard and dampener mechanism. As a nostalgic tribute to the instrument, the work is formally modeled upon the second variation movement of Beethoven op.111, with a slow compound time aria that is progressively subdivided in syncopated patterns.
